Happy New Year!

I hope all of you have had a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. Our luncheon on December 10 was a huge success with faith, fellowship and even some Trump dancing! Our silent auction netted nearly $6000 for our scholarship and other programs. Thank you to all who donated, volunteered and shopped!

In less than three weeks we will witness the inauguration of President Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. How many of us could have predicted this a year ago? When I think of the events of 2024, it is just stunning.

While we have certainly enjoyed the celebration, it’s now time to get to work! We are all watching and praying for a smooth transition and a fast start by President Trump and Congress. You can bet that the Democrats and media will allow no honeymoon.

Here at home, we need to get to work on our legislative priorities for Alabama. There is still time to make your voice heard by participating the AFRW’s Legislative Priorities Survey. The deadline to respond is January 10.

January 14 Meeting is fast approaching. We will kick things off with our first regular meeting of the year on January 14 with the media. Jeff Poor, Editor of 1819 News will be our speaker. Reservations can be made here.

February 11 Meeting will feature ALGOP Chairman and APLS President John Wahl as our guest speaker. Click here to make your reservation.

AFRW’s Legislative Days will be February 25-27 in Montgomery. The hotel for the event is the Embassy Suites. Look for an email soon with more details. I know that this year’s schedule will include a visit to the Governor’s mansion, among other things. Details will be coming soon.

ALGOP Winter Dinner will be Saturday, March 1 in Birmingham. Speaker TBD. Details will be coming soon but this is always a great event and past speakers have included President Trump, Governor Kristi Noem, Governor Ron DeSantis, Lara Trump and Kellyanne Conway.

AFRW and NFRW Conventions will be held this year for our state and national organizations. We continue to grow our membership as it gives us a larger voting delegation at these events. This year’s NFRW convention will be September 26-28 in Orlando, FL. AFRW will meet the last weekend of October here in Birmingham. Hotel TBD. Look for more information on both of these events in the months ahead.

Renew Now and don't miss a thing. We have had a great response to our early renewal program and we are starting out 2025 with 100 members already renewed. There is still time to renew before our January 14 meeting to be entered in the Free Dues drawing. Dues remain $50 per year and you can Venmo to @RepublicanWomenOfNorthShelby or mail a check to: Tereasa Rima 120 Kilkerran Lane, Pelham AL 35124. I hope you will renew your membership now if you have not already done so.

While this year might seem quiet in comparison to last with no federal or statewide elections to take center stage, we will continue to inform you of the issues and ways to get involved and make an impact. We are planning some exciting programs and speakers throughout the year to inspire, educate and motivate you. I am looking forward to sharing another outstanding year with all of you!
